Review of Hellraiser (1987) by Aaron A — 15 Oct 2010
30 Days of Horror Day 16:
If I can site one film that made me fall in love with gore and all things creepy, it would be this one. As a 3-4 year old this movie was one of the coolest things I ever saw.
Hellraiser is a horror film that stands out due to the simple fact that the gore and brutal happenings aren't only eye candy, they are an integral part of the story. The film asks the question how far are you willing to go for pleasure if it comes from pain? It's done in such a beautiful and horrific way that many who have copied it always fall short.
This film has so much going for it. An amazing script, wonderful direction, top tier effects and above all acting that puts most 80's horror to shame.
