Review of Hellraiser (1987) by Dylan C — 01 Apr 2011
Clive Barker's debut film, Hellraiser is an adequate horror film that sports a nice combination of make-up and digital effects, an excellent soundtrack (kudos to Christopher Young) some real imagination, and yes, a lot of blood.
There's a fair amount of implausibility to the story, such as why a man's wife would instantly fall in love with the mans brother after only seeing a picture of him, however Clive Barker's imagination makes up for it.
If you can stomach gore (and I'm mean lots of gore) Hellraiser is a fairly original and entertaining, if not somewhat implausible, horror treat.
