Review of Hellraiser (1987) by Helen E — 23 Nov 2011
Your average eighties horror movie, bad acting, awful dialogue and very dated special effects. I thought the make-up was pretty good for the time though, better than I expected anyway. The story is good too and with all of it coming from Clive Barker himself it must have been exactly how he pictured it.
Great idea and has obviously influenced many modern day horror films, for example Jeepers Creepers. So it's worth a watch just for that. I can't imagine the sequels being any good at all though, at a guess I would say they are just gorier, freakier? As there isn't much more one could do with it.
It was all the rage in the eighties though I suppose!
