Review of Hellraiser (1987) by Sleez B — 14 Mar 2011
Hellraiser (1987).
After watching all 94 minutes of Hellraiser I thought to myself what a waste of time and patience. I really wanted to like Hellraiser it looked really cool to me and with good reviews, a strong cult following and even a quote from legendary author Stephen King about Clive Barker saying "I have seen the future of horror his name is Clive Barker".
This is definitely not the future of horror that Stephen King was talking about.
The story starts with a man called Frank who buys a antique puzzle box and then later on manages to solve it but he is taking to another world lead by Cenobites.Frank's brother Larry moves in to his house with his unfaithful wife Julia who had an affair with Frank before she got married. Larry also has a daughter called Kirsty who decides not live with him and her stepmother and get her own place.
The movie just keeps going on and on, Then Frank reappears because Larry's blood falls on the floorboards where he was taking into the other world. Frank tells Julia he needs more blood so he can fully regenerate back into human form to get away from the Cenobites, Julia agrees to do it by taking men back to her place pretending there going to have sex but then kills them so Frank can take there blood.
Now this is where the film just goes boring beyond belief and I won't spoil what happens next for people who want to see it, but the only thing that made me not turn it off was when Pinhead showed up with the other Cenobites but that was it.
I can understand why people like this film but for me it just sucked,I also didn't find this film scary at all.I was really disappointed that Pinhead was only in the movie for about 10 mins and that I had to go through most of the film with awful acting from the cast and a story I really didn't care about.
