Review of Hellraiser (1987) by Allan C — 08 Sep 2012
A strong film debut for Clive Barker, which it is based on his novella. Which he also wrote the script for this grim, ambitious, horror, fantasy movie with some touches of black comedy. It is extremely well shot and imaginative for a movie that was shot for one million.
The story is good, it is well acted, it has good production designs and the demons from the puzzle back are a sight to see. Barker works hard on a low budget and it is tastefully done. It is ugly fun all the way.
Followed by many sequels!
