Review of Hello, My Name Is Doris (2015) by Dan M — 28 Mar 2016
This was a very disappointing movie for our family (me, my wife, and 3 near-adult children). The movie must appeal to people older than us. My wife and I are in our 50's and the majority of the audience was probably in their mid-late 60's.
Most of the audience was laughing at parts that my family and I found so unfunny that it was embarrassing. My wife and I both like Sally Field and Max Greenfield and because of that and the very high audience score we had high hopes.
However, we found the plot and writing and acting pretty ridiculously poor - predictable, unrealistic, overdone, and not funny at all. I suppose the audience rating is so high because of preselection bias (the majority of those going to the movie are old enough to like it).
It was a waste of money for us.
