Review of Hello, My Name Is Doris (2015) by Tatsuhito K — 24 Apr 2016
There is some really great stuff in this quirky indie comedy, and Sally Field is absolutely incredible as Doris. My main problem with the film is the story. It's one of those borderline creepy stories that tries to be sympathetic toward its protagonist, and it just ends up making her look like an insane stalker.
Field gives her best to make her look likable, but I just didn't find this character charming or likable. It is a well-made film and Field and Greenfield have great chemistry together, but that really depends on whether you can tolerate its quirky charm or not.
Hello, My Name Is Doris is a polarizing film.
