Review of Hello, My Name Is Doris (2015) by Abb J — 29 Jun 2016
Hello, My Name Is Doris: Sally Field is Doris, an old lady who is a hoarder, has had the same job for decades and has lived her entire adult life with her mother on New York's Staten Island. When her mother dies, Doris' small bubble of a world pops, leading to a fixation on the hot young new co-worker and his millennial friends, who find her weirdness "vintage" and "charming.
" Field breathes complexity, heartbreak and ultimately optimism into a role that, due to a so so script, could have easily been a one-note joke. Instead, this one really sweet movie. See it. B+z.
