A total blast. If you like the first one, you'll love this one. If you didn't like the first one, give this one a chance anyway. Del Toro has taken it to the next level with this one. More than just an action movie, he gives you characters that you root.
And whoah, what an imigination this guy has. The creatures that come out of this guy's head will leave your jaw on the floor. Not a moment goes by when you don't a glimpse of something you've never seen before.
Decidely more self-assured than the original, it actually has a story that makes sense and isn't just there to get from one action sequence to the next. It doesn't hurt that Ron Perlman just owns the role of Hellboy.
Special kudos to Doug Jones as Abe Sapien. Who new a fish-guy could exude such warmth. Loved it start to finish. Highly recommended.
