Review of Hellboy (2004) by Remi L — 23 May 2011
Guillermo del Toro WOULD be the guy who makes the Hellboy movie. And darned if he didn't do a bang-up job! The mythology in itself with how Hellboy was brought to this world by Nazi occultists is freaking awesome, but the film that went along with it was pretty sweet too.
The action beats are great and the effects are fantastic, but would you expect any less from Guillermo? Perlman is perfectly cast as Hellboy and the rest of the players are no slouches either. My only gripe is Selma Blair who I found sort of boring.
Hopefully she steps up her game in The Golden Army. That minor nitpick aside, this is one comic book film that I am sorry I missed seeing in theaters.
