Review of Hellboy (2004) by Brayden T — 12 Dec 2012
Hellboy superhero film directed by Guilermo del Toro. Starring Ron Perlman. The film spawned a sequel in 2011 Hellboy II: The Golden Army. The character Hellboy was created in 1994 by comic book artist Mike Mignola. He is red behemoth who chews on his cigar with massive horns on his forehead. He has a hiding place at a federal research institute, always quick and energetic to help the people of earth from dangers. Ron Perlman the Hellboy with Selma Blair as his love-interest working at same federal institute with ability of fire-starter.
I never distrust Guillermo del Toro, he has brought us amazing stories and praiseworthy use of technology in most of his movies. Although I am a critical fan of best fantasy movies like this, it doesn't put me to liken movies with poor stories, using funky computer-generated-interface (CGI). Guilermo's utmost reliance on Doug Jones undoubtedly brings him unique response, comparatively as close as to Peter Jackson's collaboration with Andy Serkis.
NOTE: Watched in 2007!
