Review of Hellboy (2004) by Christopher S — 23 May 2011
Hellboy is a cleverly written and wonderfully drawn comic book series. This movie, on the other hand, boils everything down to a limp action flick. Ron Perlman has an innate charm that makes me want to like him in any role he does, but as the title character he's stuck with cornball one-liners that even Steven Seagal would be mortified to utter.
Ultimately, this movie brings none of the dry wit and macabre appeal of its source material.
