Review of Hell Night (2001) by Filmgrinder S — 20 Jul 2012
A formulaic slasher, to be sure, right up to Final Girl staggering into the sunrise. Held up in a recent re-watch (after 25+ years) with decent acting, likeable (if one dimensional) characters, and excellent design work. Sad to say this piece of B-movie fluff makes me pine for the old school craft of handmade special effects integrated with the story. Seems more like the computer designed effects of today detract from, or substitute entirely for, the story.
I sound like a grandma now ... talking about slashers.
