Review of Hell Drivers (1957) by Mike M — 26 Jul 2007
One of the great underrated moments in British cinema, fascinating for the way it coupled social realist concerns to just bloody exciting scenes of trucks careening flat-out down small back roads... There's a terrific British cast on offer: Sid James plays table football by himself, Herbert Lom is the tragic Gino, Sean Connery makes an early screen appearance, and Patrick McGoohan lurches about giggling maniacally, like Rutger Hauer doing pantomime.
