Review of Hell (2011) by Kevin R — 16 Mar 2013
A truly harrowing experience, Hell reimagines the sun's beauty and warmth as a source of death and destruction. It is an apocalyptic film in which nature and the universe have fundamentally turned against the human race who struggle to survive in the interstices where the sun's rays do not reach.
Dark, brutal, and existential, Hell doesn't quite reach the heights to which it aims, but it comes damn close in its depiction of humanity turned against itself. When light itself becomes a source of death, then what does the darkness hold???
