Review of Heist (2001) by Hugh H — 29 Jun 2007
Lesser Mamet is still as good as candy. The story and plot twists are nothing new, but the dialogue is great. There is more intricacy in the dialogue here than previous efforts by Mamet. The acting talent also lifts the stale story.
Gene Hackman was considered the great everyman dramatic actor of his time, but is very natural and charming as a professional criminal here. The film is remiscient of old 60s guy movies of comradery.
