Review of Heist (2001) by Cullen R — 19 Mar 2010
Joe Moore is a professional thief who can feel his age. So when he's "burned" on a job he takes it as a blessing, an excuse to retire. Unfortunatly for Joe that puts Micky Bergmen, his fence, in an awkward position. He's up to his eyeballs in debt and needs Joe to pull of one last job, steal a planeful of Swiss Gold...one last job where murky and shifting loyalties can spell disaster.
Excellent crime thriller from David Mamet filled with his memorable dialogue and great performances by Gene Hackman and Danny DeVito. Filled with double and triple crosses everyones playing their cards close here ratchiting up the tension as loyalties shift on the fly. Serves as a great reminander of what Hollywood lost when Hackman decided to retire.
