Review of Heist (2001) by Jeremy P — 06 Sep 2013
Really mixed feelings about this one. For someone known for his writing, I thought David Mamet had some pretty horrible dialogue in here. The tone is often really uneven too. Either it's great at surprising you with what you never thought would happen, or it handles those surprises horribly, not sure yet.
The silent mechanics of the various heist preparation and performance sequences were amazing though. And thankfully there are some really skilled actors here too. Man, that Sam Rockwell, he's so good at making me hate him.
