Review of Heavy Metal (1981) by Manny C — 03 Apr 2008
Based on a series of Canadian graphic novels, and featuring voice work from the likes of John Candy and Eugene Levy, this is one animated flick not for the kiddies. Nudity abounds and the action leaves lots of blood.
For me the best bit doesn't even have nudity or sex, but plays like a well-crafted horror short story, as a man in a fighter plane is attacked by his fallen comrades re-animated corpses. Scary indeed.
Also features fantastic tunes from Black Sabbath to Sammy Hagar. Awesome stuff!
