Review of Heavy Metal (1981) by Rafiq U — 20 Jun 2012
An epic rumble of awesome violence and boobs... lots and lots of boobs. It's sure as hell a "guy's movie", but I'd recommend it to anyone who likes sex, violence, and 80's cartoons. Speaking of which, the art is super cool and though one or two of the skits are weak, the overall experience is pretty amazing. Really, I guess the best way to put it, is it's all pleasure with very little substance. However, in this case, that isn't a bad thing. The two biggest flaws of the movie is the aforementioned weak skit or two, and the pacing of the last skit is pretty annoying, considering the final battle is a slight let-down. Nevertheless, it's a really cool 80's romp and if you like cartoon violence and sex, sign yourself up. Otherwise, just leave it alone, because you'll probably bitch about getting offended.
PROS: Great art, funny, endless sex and violence, gives a great adventure feel.
CONS: One or two bad skits, uneven pacing.
