Review of Heavenly Creatures (1994) by Mike T — 26 Feb 2009

Throughout the first act of this movie, I was put off by what seemed to be clunky, overwrought staging and acting. As the story progresses, it is clear that the stylistic extremity is very condusive to the effect of the film as a whole.

I found this movie to be profoundly disturbing, and I honestly doubt if I could handle watching it again. As someone who has seen a fair deal of movies, I can honestly say this one ranks among the most unnerving.
