Wow! I watched this because it was Kate Winslet's first starring role. Imagine my surprise when I saw Melanie Lynskey's name in the beginning credits. Could it be the same actress who plays Charlie Sheen's wacko neighbor/ex-girlfriend on "Two and a Half Men"? Indeed it was.
She was 17 when she made this movie and she blew Kate out of the water. Directed by Peter Jackson, no less.
