Review of Heavenly Creatures (1994) by Gawtham J — 31 Aug 2011
I have constantly reminded myself of Spielberg's "The Color Purple" when I watched Jackson's "Heavenly Creatures" with my dad. Both master pieces share.
A considerable amount of similarities. But Heavenly Creature intensively portraits the psychological traumas of the two adolescent girls, with a fantastic reference mythological allusions.(the seed for legendary Lord of the Ring is very much visible in here)The girls were foiled in their attempts to breakthrough toward the Fourth world. The silent tone in the narration sets an impeccable backdrop for the strong revulsion with the fussy social outset.
