Compelling, and darkly amusing, great acting from the two leads, and now I've seen all of Peter Jackson's films, it joins up a few dots in his directing career as it has some of the low-budget, twisted comedy of his early films, some of the inventive fantasy he's now more known for, and the drama has a lot in common with The Lovely Bones.
