Very well done--Kate Winslet was a movie star right out of the gates. Lots of nice period touches and some extremely strong acting from the two teenaged leads. Some of the other characters (lots of faces from other Jackson movies) play very broad and stagy, but since so much of the story is told from the point-of-view of the girls and their delusions, this might be intentional.
