Review of Heavenly Creatures (1994) by Suvi L — 11 May 2010
The beginning drags along quite exhaustingly, after which the horrifying ending comes pretty abruptly. Still, it did get me a bit teary-eyed. These girls were wrapped up in their little fantasy bubble, from where they, as adolescents, unfortunately couldn't see that their parents were only trying to protect them.
To know that this is a true story adds up to the lump in your throat during the macabre finale of the girls' friendship. Oh, and one more thing: the other girl is a successful crime writer who still claims to have been only an accomplice.
Whatever, woman. I guess your bubble hasn't bursted yet.
