Review of Heaven Knows, Mr. Allison (1957) by Erik W — 30 Jun 2010
If you haven't seen this movie, you should. Now don't watch this expecting blood and guts action, it's definately not that kind of a movie. It's a movie with two great performances. Robert Mitchum was great as a Marine who washes up on a Pacific island whose only inhabitant is a Nun, execellently played by Deborah Kerr.
The two are faced with near impossible circumstances, hiding from occupying Japanese troops, bombings and hunger and trying to survive all of them. Brilliantly directed by the legendary John Huston and marvlously photographed by Oswald Morris.
I definately recommend this to all movie buffs.
