Its both a shame (and probably to be expected) that the film centring on a Vietnamese character is the weakest of Stone's trilogy. That the male US character (Tommy Lee Jones) is far more interesting than the main, female Vietnamese character creates an unbalanced and ultimately unrewarding experience.
