Review of Heat (1995) by You B — 10 Oct 2011
A good film with interesting characters, subplots and masterful use of music to create mood and atmosphere. Those last two are also the main reasons why this film is so good. Because while the film's story is not bad, it's not a masterpiece either.
But it's the execution that counts in this case. Al Pacino and Robert De Niro are masters of their craft and it shows. Their first scene together is a sight to behold. The rest of the cast do a good job as well, the film is shot nicely and once again I must praise the soundtrack.
Brilliant, that is. Pretty much the only flaw is that the story is a bit bare when it comes to originality. It's not clichéd or anything, but... It's actually a bit hard to explain, because I cannot quite put my finger on just why the story disappointed me a little bit.
It just did. But still, well worth watching in my opinion.
