Review of Heartthrob (2017) by Alexander M — 20 Jan 2018
I usually am not one for sappy movies, romantic movies, love stories, dramas, or anything similar to this movie even really most times. I mean there are a few movies that I like a lot kinda like this movie in some ways, but most seem to be from the 1980's and I don't see those type films anymore ( Films like: "Sixteen Candles", "The Breakfast Club", "Pretty in Pink" and a handful of others have some similarities to this movie but this movie is UNIQUE in so many other ways, it can't really be called similar to me... not fully.
Onto the review though really. The cast was great, the performances by the actors were quite stunning in retrospect, and the scenery, simply amazing. I could have just watched the background of this movie and been content even without any audio.
This movie touched my heart, and made me open up to my own feelings. Yes I cried, and yes I'm a male, but that's just another reason why it's such a great movie, you connect with the characters and by the end as you feel you just got to know them, it's over and you're sad at the fact it's over even. Not to mention the ending *NOT A SPOILER* which was fantastic in my opinion, although I wish the movie could've been a little longer there isn't much I see wrong with it personally.
As a person who has gone through Heart throb myself, and am still currently heartbroken from my previous relationship (which ended 13 months ago now, and still not over it, although it was 5+ years of my life.
Before that I was very in love with a girl who I believe was really the one for me, and I let get away. **Please Don't be Reading This Sabrina Lol** We are still friends but not my more recent ex, because she ended things badly between us after I found out she had cheated on me with my "best friend" who I'd known almost 11 years. So I trashed 2 people, a friendship and a relationship, out of my life for good. But still, after breaking up I admit there are times I miss my recent ex as well because I loved her as well, truly loved (not quite soulmate like Sabrina feels to me) and we had some really amazing times together and formed so many memories over so many things like TV Shows, Movies, Music, and other parts of life-styles. So it was almost therapeutic to see this movie, as well as some others I've seen since we broke up.
It's movies like this that help me heal for one, and also occupy my time and entertain me, so it's all around winning.
I highly recommend this movie to any and everyone who is 16+ (Sexual scenes, so not for all 16 year olds maybe) some may say 17 or 18+.
11/10. FAN-EFFING-TASTIC.
Ps: reminiscent of some elements of Romeo & Juliet, making it almost the more modern version IMO.
