The audience score has it about right, low 70s. Critics score is inflated due to all the diversity boxes that get checked off with this movie, mixed race relationship, homosexuality, single parent, brainy black kid, female landlord ect.
New York setting and eclectic record store also fuels critics. That being said it is a good movie, heartfelt and some funny. Decent weeknight distraction.
