Review of Heartbreak Ridge (1955) by Olli H — 24 Jul 2012
This has a 92% rating?! Wow, they must have had pretty low standards in 1986, as this is almost a laughable effort. It never really knows whether it wants to be a light-hearted Eastwood vehicle, or whether it wants to be a hard-assed military training film, but it fails to do both and the closing action sequence is just terrible in every sense of the word.
You get the sneaking suspicion it served more as a propaganda film for the marines than anything else. Really quite disappointing.
