Review of Heart of Glass (1976) by Stuart K — 04 Dec 2011
Absolutely the most beautiful film I have ever seen, very reminiscent in the early landscape scenes of Caspar David Friedrich's paintings. The narrative is often rather perplexing but the images are so marvellous and the mood, the tableaux, it's ravishing.
The language seems a softer archaic form of German, to me, but I could easily be wrong. This film is like a dream, a hallucination, it's exactly what the medium of cinema is all about. Loved it.
