Review of He Never Died (2015) by Sanal R — 03 Oct 2016
He Never Died was the 3rd flick in our 31 nights of horror. I really liked this movie. First of all, I've been a fan of Henry Rollins since my teenage years and even attended a spoken word concert of his back in the late 90's.
So, going in, I was a tad biased. This story has a familiar premise of an immortal vampire/demon (I was never quite sure which one he was supposed to be) who lives a solitary life. His teenage daughter shows up and drama ensues.
While the setup was somewhat unoriginal. the delivery was flawless. Rollins was perfectly cast as this eternal character, with his deadpan dialogue and his hilarious dark humor. I found myself genuinely laughing at the parts that were meant to be funny and cringing at the moments that were horrific.
A superb mix of comedy and horror, He Never Died is pretty good.
