Review of He Never Died (2015) by Kelly D — 18 Dec 2015
HE NEVER DIED.
A Review.
I stayed up till midnight to buy this On Demand.
Released December 18.
Henry Rollins.
Directed by Jason Krawczyk.
Alternate Ending Studios.
Jack never died. He is weary of life, all eleven or so centuries of it. He is especially depleted of patience on the part of people. But... He still has a taste for them.
Rollins plays Jack (and I won't reveal the genus of monster Jack is, ruining the noir/horror plot line for you) so droll, so deadpan that every line and dialogue response is hysterical in a creepily inappropriate way. If I had not enjoyed being so perversely entertained, I would say this film is garish, gory and too bloody for my personal grid. Nah. It was delicious.
Henry Rollins has acted supporting and bit parts. I thought he was very good in Johnny Neumonic half a century ago.
Rollins was bang on ironic, and oxymoronic in that he held unseen character layers within the one dimensional Jack.
There is going to be Major Buzz about "He Never Died.".
Or Jack's victim's blood will cry out from the ground!
All co-stars top-shelf performers, especially Kate Greenhouse, the lovely diner waitress who crushes on/gets involved with Jack's supernatural melodrama.
Jordan Todosey plays "a girl with a lip ring" who happens to be Jack's long lost daughter. She's badass adorable.
So, I have enjoyed "He Never Died" in the comfort of my home. Should my area get hip to the film, I will see it on the big screen...if only to enjoy better detail as Rollins munches a guy's dismembered middle finger.
Ten Hearts Throbbingð???
{Spoiler Alert...wah waaaah.
No ... And I mean Zero gratuitous Rollins shirtless scenes:/. That said -- the acting Rocked!!}.
