Review of Häxan (1922) by James C — 15 Nov 2008
Absolutely stunning docudrama recreation of various witch trials, legends and lore from the middle ages, with an epilogue comparing the traits of being a witch with the symptoms of hysteria. The devils and demons portrayed are genuine walking gargoyles, some of the most disturbing, fantastic and hilarious (by turns) creatures ever to have been put on a cinema screen.
A one of a kind film, and pacey as hell.
