Review of Hawk the Slayer (1980) by Brendan O — 21 Mar 2010
All of the flaws just add to it's appeal. Watching Jack Palance and John Terry you can tell they hated every minute of working on this; this movie is to Jack, what ''There Will Be Blood'' is to Daniel Day-Lewis and John Terry, who is usually a reliable actor, looks like he's in a trance, two expression: Uninterest and "I think I got food poisoning", is almost enjoyable to watch.
Who else, bit-part actors you would find in an episode of Doctor Who, a giant that not very tall and a dwarf that not very short. How to sum up the sheer, unmatched goofiness of HtS, read the flixster summary, silly strings is used as a medieval weapon.
Hawk the Slayer is a true B-movie.
