Review of Haven (2001) by Alex F — 14 Jul 2007
A stylistically interesting film that uses multiple pov overlapping one another to tell the story. The film has a really good feel and texture but its downfall is in the editing room. The 1st main cut from the storyline about the businessman and his daughter to one of the island storylines is way too abrupt and jarring.
The narration at this point filling in info comes off as a cover-up for sloppy editing. Beyond the opening it is the only place where narration is used in the film. That said this film has enough going for it that it is worth a watch.
