Review of Hatchet II (2010) by David S — 27 Aug 2010
Sorry Adam, no matter what you say this film is NOT better than your original 'Hatchet'! Saying that this is still a worthy sequel that continues the story straight after the first film finishes and still has some ridiculously fun death scenes (which the audience cheered at the screening I saw).
The whole thing doesn't take itself too seriously and is all the more fun for it. It's nice seeing Tony Todd getting more to do than normal and Parry Shen brings a lot of humour to his role as the identical brother but Danielle Harris isn't as engaging as the original MaryBeth and Tom Holland looks so ill and frail during the whole thing it is quite disturbing.
The ending essentially finishes the series but you can't keep a good monster down and Victor Crowley, although not yet in the same league as the Freddy, Jason and Michael Myers of this world will undoubtably rise again!
