Review of Hatchet (2006) by Brad W — 15 Feb 2009
You have to be really patient to get to the good stuff here. A quick gore throw away with Robt. Englund sets the stage for close to an hour before any action follows. No story follows either. Essentially this wants to be the new Friday the 13th. However, it only has enough material for a half hour version. The rest is god awful tedious padding. (With another terrible throw away scene from Tony Todd. Didn't this sort of thing go out with DTV films in the 80's?).
The kills and effects and quite good, but you don't care. There's nothing to back this up. It's like a show reel was tacked on the end for the effects. Avoid unless you intend to FF to see the effects of the last half hour.
