A pretty bad movie with some extraordinary performances. Bale is impossibly good (as Garfield creator Jim Davis LOL) and deserves better than the hacky film making provided by Ayer. Bale's performance is reminiscent of De Niro in Mean Streets as a generally terrible human being.
Bale is again attracted to a complex character and brings more than the movie deserves. Though the Machinist is a better movie than Harsh Times.
