Review of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (2001) by Martin R — 05 Jan 2014
It was one of my earliest exposure to world of High Fantasy and its still one of my best experience. I was introduced to the Harry Potter franchise through this particular movie and it completely blew me away.
When Young Harry finds out that he is a wizard he goes on this amazing adventure to a magical world which is quite unlike any we have seen in other fantasies, we experience a similar journey start to care about certain characters and immerse ourselves in the rich world J.
K. Rowling has created for us. Ably directed by Chris Columbus the movie ties in the rich elements of the magical world with a deep emotion and innocence underlying the entire film which will set the tone for the start of an epic saga.
With an amazing score by Sir. John Williams and a tremendous cast of Richard Harris , Maggie Smith , Alan Rickman , Richard Griffiths and the lead trio of Daniel Radcliffe , Emma Watson and Rupert Grint the film soars high and above the other children's fantasy of its age.
Visually appalling specially with the game of Quidditch with people flying around and amazing sets and costumes the start to the franchise is a joyous watch for everyone.
