Review of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007) by Robert G — 30 Mar 2014
In my opinion this is the weakest of the film series. I didn't like the movie before reading the book, and I re-watched it after I finally read the book and feel the same. The book that this movie is based off of is the longest in the series, and it definitely feels like they tried to make this movie as short as they possibly could.
If they would have added another 30 minutes I feel like this could have been a well done movie. The beginning of the movie moved along a little too fast and distant, but it still worked for the most part.
The middle section also seemed to zoom along too quick, leaving me confused somewhat at some of the story sections. All of a sudden the characters are doing something and I don't understand why really.
The death of sirius was way too quick, it felt like they tried to jam in a relationship that didn't feel like it should have. This should have been more fleshed out in the goblet of fire like it was in the books.
But I guess it gets the job done as much as it should. It just should have spent more time to make it more than what it was.
