Review of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007) by Abraham S — 28 Nov 2018
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is often a gloomy and punishing watch, as forces conspire to make our hero really suffer. It feels like this is where the Harry Potter movies came of age - the wand battles are dazzling, crashing duels, while the emotions run deep and the villainy is more insidious, with scary performances from Ralph Fiennes and Helena Bonham Carter.
But Imelda Staunton's Dolores Umbridge makes an even greater impression, featuring as she does in one of the most disturbing scenes in the whole franchise, when Harry spends a short stint in detention.
