Review of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009) by Isaac B — 03 Oct 2015
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince drops dramatically in the fun category and shifts the whole tone of the franchise in a gloomy direction. This is not necessarily a bad thing however, it certainly makes it feel like a longer film.
As the audience, we get a sense that the epic finale of the franchise is just around the corner which is just about the only reason this film is needed. Otherwise, not much is achieved at all. Harry even says it to Hermione and Ron at the end, "it was all for nothing.
" That may seem like a below-three-star-statement nonetheless, this was still a Harry Potter film so seeing these characters on the screen again, moving the story forward is exciting enough to make me enjoy this film.
Definitely not bad, just slightly less magical.
