Review of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002) by Luke N — 28 Aug 2013
Even better than the first movie, 'Chamber of Secrets' manages to be both an incredibly entertaining adventure, and a surprisingly scary fantasy. Everything that made the first movie work is back again, only this time Chris Columbus has evidently perfected what his might not have done so well in 'Philosopher's Stone'.
The premise of Tom Riddle's diary taking possession of Ginny Weasley behind the scenes is one of Rowling's better ideas, and the numerous attacks made by what turns out to be an terrifying basilisk is much creepier than anything in the previous movie.
This film marks the end of the old-school Harry Potter, and for better or worse, they never quite reach the same enchanting quality that this and its predecessor nostalgically possess.
