Review of Harry Brown (2009) by The S — 28 Dec 2010
Panning out as a grittier, grimier version of Gran Torino or a more credible version of Death Wish, the cast (especially Caine) are excellent in this much too believable for comfort film - it's not just the performances and script that grip the viewer but the unsettling thought that it could easily be true.
My only complaint (a small one) is that the police inspector seemed rather wet and bewildered in her role at times - although the subtext went a little way to explain this a little blatant exposition may have helped.
Highly recommended - but perhaps not for the squeamish or easily offended.
