Review of Harry Brown (2009) by Mildo . — 13 Oct 2010
Revenge vigilante films have found there new niche with veteran actors like Clint Eastwood in the brilliant Gran Torino and we might also harken back to the Death Wish films starring Charles Bronson & in this intense film Michael Caine stars as an ex service man who takes the law in his own hands, when his best friend who fears for his life is killed by street hooligans in the morbid side of London where anarchy seems to rule.
Michael Caine is of course brilliant. With a gritty realism that makes Gran Torino a little more light than this film. This film will make you route for Caine and want him to kill every body that has turned the place into a cess pool of crime and depravity.
But it also makes you think how has society gone this far downhill. This film is not for the timid its not a film you would want to see again mainly because of what we see thru the course of this film, its quite hard hitting.
The film will in my opinion make u hate violence for what it is. In a word hard hitting and uncomfortable at times but is worth seeing mainly because of the magnificent Caine in one of his greatest roles to date.
