Review of Harry Brown (2009) by Kerrianne C — 02 Apr 2011
This was a very good film, definitely not a feel good one though. It was interesting to get an inside view on an area like this from a character who deals with it daily rather than a news reporter. It wasthought provoking and provided a good representation of the attitudes of many young people who are labelled as "Chav" or "Ned" within the UK today.
I should imagine that americans are more accustomed to seeing films set within the uk at tourist hot spots rather than an ugly run down council estate, I can understand why it perhaps might not of done so well in America.
I was a bit disappointed by the end depsite the fact that it was supposed to be a happy one, I wanted Harry to find a new chess partner and move away from the area that he really didnt deserve to be living in.
