Review of Harry Brown (2009) by Robert I — 22 Jan 2013
There's nothing fun about "Harry Brown". This isn't a call back to Caine's 70s work. No, this a modern, harder, gritter vigilante picture. Think Death Sentence meets Gran Torino. This isn't a film you cheer for Caine for.
He's not superhumanly badass. His English charm is buried in his pointless life's grief. The result is pretty breathtaking. However, I do recommend watching the 17 minutes of deleted scenes on the DVD as they actually do add some great character moments and even a much needed laugh or two.
